Offer Description

The position is to be filled within the TEAM team of the UMR CNRS 6144 GEPEA (Process Engineering in Environment and Agro-food), site of La Roche sur Yon.

The TEAM team is recognized for its innovative approach combining diagnosis and treatment of pollutants in aquatic ecosystems. Their research includes the development of biodegradation assessment strategies, microbial biosensors for the in situ detection of contaminants, the use of biomarkers and Raman spectroscopy for ecotoxicological impact assessment, as wellas advanced biodegradation processes and industrial effluent treatment through electrochemistry. By integrating emerging technologies, such as drones and smart sensors, GEPEA contributes to precise environmental monitoring and the optimization of bioprocesses for pollutant reduction.

Missions

The position will be part of a multidisciplinary team within the framework of a two-year national public-private research project. The candidate will coordinate a research axis in collaboration with the scientific supervisor.

Main activities

  • Establish a strategy to evaluate the biodegradation and toxicity of organic molecules alone or in mixtures derived from essential natural oils. It will involve structuring all the biodegradation/toxicity tests currently used in the laboratory or under development
  • Identify the physicochemical interactions between the constituents of the mixtures that could explain the biodegradation problems
  • Characterize different microbial inocula through genomic and functional analyses
  • Collaborate with project partners to help predict the potential for in silico biodegradation
