Do you have a passion for making a difference in the lives of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)? Are you highly organised, empathetic, and skilled in statutory SEND assessment procedures? If so, Luton Council is looking for an EHCP Co-Ordinator to join our dedicated team.

About The Role

As an EHCP Co-Ordinator, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people with SEND by managing the statutory Education, Health, and Care (EHC) needs assessment process. You will liaise with families, schools, and other professionals to ensure that high-quality EHC plans are produced, meeting legal requirements and the individual needs of children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate EHC needs assessments in line with statutory requirements.
  • Respond empathetically and professionally to enquiries from families, schools, and other stakeholders.
  • Organise and prioritise your workload effectively to meet strict deadlines.
  • Facilitate, arrange, and accurately record meetings.
  • Provide advice and guidance to schools, parents, and other professionals on the SEND process.
  • Ensure compliance with procedures and guidelines while communicating complex information clearly.
  • Maintain high-quality case records and contribute to the production of legally compliant and person-centred EHC plans.
  • Utilise IT skills to produce complex documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with a range of stakeholders, including families, schools, and healthcare professionals.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of equal opportunities and workplace discrimination.

About You

About You

To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Need

  • Experience in statutory SEND assessment procedures and a demonstrable understanding of the EHC needs assessment process.
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to provide clear and empathetic responses to enquiries.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work independently, managing competing deadlines.
  • IT proficiency, including experience with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of key legislation, including the Education Act 1996 and the Children and Families Act 2014.
  • A commitment to inclusivity and equality, with an understanding of discrimination in the workplace.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as A-levels (or equivalent) and a Level 3 Business Administration qualification (or equivalent experience).
