Danone is offering a six-month internship at its Paris-Saclay/Gif-sur-Yvette R&I center starting Jan/Feb 2027. You will work under the guidance of a Senior Scientist in Microbiology and Gut Physiology, contributing to in vitro digestive models and microbial analyses.

The role requires enrollment in a Master 2 or Bac+5 program in related fields, with strong interest in experimental science and collaboration across teams. Remote work up to 2 days/week and other benefits are included.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in Master 2 or Bac+5 in a related field.
• Interest in microbiology, gut physiology, and translational research.
• Comfortable with basic laboratory techniques and data analysis.

Responsabilités

• Contribute to microbiology and gut physiology projects with in vitro models.
• Plan, perform, and document lab experiments under supervision.
• Analyze data and prepare summaries for interpretation with the team.
• Develop or optimize protocols while ensuring rigor and GLP basics.
• Present progress through team discussions and a final report.

YOUR MISSIONS AT DANONE:

This internship will take place in Paris-Saclay / Gif-sur-Yvette, at our Research & Innovation center starting from January/February 2027 for a duration of 6 months. Thomas Sauvaitre, Senior Scientist, in Microbiology and Gut Physiology will guide you through your day-to-day tasks and help you grow in your role:

• Contribute to research projects focused on the interaction between food, microorganisms, digestion, and gut physiology, with a particular focus on microbiology and in vitro digestive models.
• Plan, perform, and document laboratory experiments involving microbial cultures, in vitro digestion and/or fermentation models, and analytical readouts under the supervision of your tutor.
• Analyze experimental data, prepare clear summaries, and contribute to the interpretation of results in collaboration with scientists and technicians from the team.
• Participate in the development or optimization of protocols related to microbiology, gut physiology, and food matrix characterization, while ensuring rigor, traceability, and good laboratory practices.
• Communicate your progress through regular updates, team discussions, and a final presentation summarizing your scientific approach, results, and recommendations.

• Up to 2 days/week of remote work

About You

For this position, we are looking for someone:

• Available in S1 2027, ideally from January or February 2027, for a duration of 6 months.

• Currently enrolled in a Master 2, engineering school, or equivalent Bac+5 program in microbiology, biotechnology, food science, biological engineering, gut physiology, or a related field.

• Rigorous, curious, proactive, and autonomous, with a strong interest in experimental science and translational research linked to nutrition, microbiota, and gut health.

• Comfortable with laboratory work and basic microbiology techniques; experience with data analysis tools such as Excel, R, GraphPad, or similar software would be appreciated.

• Enjoys working in a collaborative research environment, communicating scientific results clearly, and interacting with different scientific and technical experts.
