Murex invites a final-year student in Computer Science or Software Engineering to join our MX.3 team in Paris for a 6-month internship. You will contribute to Java-based components powering a large-scale financial platform and gain experience in architecture, data processing, and real-time services.

You will collaborate with engineers, architects and product experts in an international environment. You will work on onboarding, project assignments with direct technical impact, and opportunities

Qualifications

• Final-year student in Engineering School or MSc in CS/Software Engineering or related field.
• Strong Java programming skills and interest in complex software systems.
• Good understanding of object-oriented programming principles.
• Interest in software architecture, distributed systems, performance, data processing, observability or CI/CD.
• Curious, analytical and eager to understand how components interact.
• Strong problem-solving skills; team-oriented and autonomous.
• Good communication and documentation skills.
• Fluency in English is required.

Team & Context:

At Murex, Software Engineers design, develop and maintain the technologies that power the MX.3 platform, used by financial institutions worldwide.

Our Java engineers work on technical components and services at the core of the platform. Their projects cover areas such as application development, distributed systems, performance optimization, data processing, software architecture, observability, continuous integration and developer tooling.

Joining this internship means becoming part of a community of experienced engineers working on challenging software development topics. You will contribute to a concrete technical project while gaining hands-on experience with the architecture and development of a large-scale financial software platform.

Your missions / What you’ll do?

Following an onboarding program covering software engineering practices and the MX.3 platform, you will contribute to a project with direct technical impact. Depending on your assignment, you may:

• Design, develop and test software components and services in Java;

• Analyze existing code, execution flows and technical architectures;

• Improve the performance, robustness, reliability and maintainability of existing solutions;

• Contribute to the development of data-processing, workflow or real-time applications;

• Work on distributed systems, service orchestration and platform components;

• Enhance monitoring, diagnostics and operational tooling;

• Contribute to testing, continuous integration and deployment practices;

• Explore the use of AI and Machine Learning in software engineering use cases;

• Collaborate closely with software engineers, architects and product experts;

• Document your approach and present your findings and solutions to technical stakeholders.

A glimpse of the topics you could work on:

Our interns contribute to a variety of technical initiatives across the Software Engineering perimeter.

The topics you could work on include:

• The validation and optimization of logical query plans, including rule-based approaches and the exploration of Machine Learning techniques;

• Performance engineering, profiling and optimization of Java services;

• The design and evolution of workflow dependency and business-process management tools;

• Monitoring and administration capabilities for real-time applications;

• The development of backend services, REST APIs and modern web-based operational tools;

• The evaluation of technologies supporting cluster management, leader election and distributed systems;

• The modernization and optimization of CI/CD pipelines, including testing, containerization, monitoring and deployment practices;

• Software architecture, developer experience, documentation-as-code and AI-assisted engineering initiatives;

• Improvements to software quality, reliability, maintainability and developer experience.

Each internship assignment is built around a real technical challenge and provides hands-on exposure to software engineering within the capital markets technology industry.

Your profile / Who you are ?

• Final-year student from an Engineering School or equivalent Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field;

• Good programming skills in Java and a strong interest in complex software systems;

• Good understanding of object-oriented programming principles;

• Interested in topics such as software architecture, distributed systems, performance, data processing, observability or continuous integration;

• Curious, analytical and eager to understand how software components interact;

• Strong problem-solving skills;

• Team-oriented, with a proactive and autonomous mindset;

• Good communication and documentation skills;

• Fluency in English is required.
