Autoliv is looking for an Innovation Mechatronics Product Engineer for its European Steering Wheel Technical Center located in Chiré en Montreuil near Poitiers (86 - France).

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the development of innovative products while respecting Autoliv targets (robustness, cost, delay).
  • Developing innovative mechatronics products for new Driver Units (steering wheel + driver airbag) and key components (mechanical & electronic) to accelerate market introduction and competitiveness.
  • Conducting pre-studies and feasibility studies of innovation ideas to support future interior designs, new user experiences, HMI censoring, electrification trends, and autonomous driving vehicles.
  • Collaborating with customers, partners, suppliers, and internal departments on pre-studies and feasibilities, and coordinating the development of new mechatronics components for steering wheels.
  • Defining technical specifications for mechatronics functions at system and component levels with validation plans.
  • Participating in and leading design reviews for mechatronics components.
  • Coordinating development teams locally and globally.
  • Developing innovative demos and test equipment to promote steering wheel innovation in cooperation with Marketing, Business Units, and Research departments.
  • Supporting technical centers, business units, and research centers based on new customer innovation ideas and initial responses.
  • Assisting quotation teams with pre-architecture proposals aligned with OEM business cases and Autoliv strategy.

Candidate requirements:

  • Engineer diploma or equivalent.
  • Fluent in English and French (spoken and written).
  • 5-7 years of experience in developing complex mechatronic products in the automotive industry, with proven experience in tier 1 and innovative or new product launches highly valued.
  • Mastery in developing mechatronics products for the automotive industry.
  • Strong knowledge of electronics (actuators, ECU, sensors, illumination), software, and system engineering.
  • Good understanding of mechanical design, electronics (hardware and software), and Automotive Bus communication (LIN & CAN).

Additional note: Willingness to travel occasionally for international business trips.
