Job Summary :

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Opera General Manager - Operations to join our team. As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will oversee the operational aspects of our opera company, ensuring the successful delivery of productions, events, and educational programs.

Key Responsibilities :

  1. Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the opera company, including production planning, logistics, and facilities management.
  2. Production Management: Collaborate with the Artistic Director and production teams to plan and deliver productions, ensuring timely and within-budget completion.
  3. Event Planning: Coordinate and execute events, such as galas, fundraisers, educational and cultural programs, to achieve revenue and attendance goals.
  4. Team Management: Lead and manage a team of operations staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
  5. Budgeting and Financial Management: Develop and manage operational budgets, ensuring effective resource allocation and financial sustainability.
  6. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate operational risks, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
  7. Collaboration and Partnerships: Foster relationships with external partners, vendors, and stakeholders to advance the opera company's interests.

Requirements :

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Arts Administration, Business, or a related field.
  2. Experience: Minimum 15 years of experience in opera or performing arts management, with a focus on operations and production management.
  3. Skills:
  • Excellent leadership, management, and communication skills.
  • Strong operational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and other productivity software.
  • Personal Qualities:
    • Passion for opera and the performing arts.
    • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
