Qualifications

Job Description:

Vanatome, a subsidiary of Framatome and TechnicAtome, located in Saint-Vallier in the Drôme, is an industrial company specializing in the design, manufacturing, and qualification of valves and fittings for nuclear, defense, and energy sectors. Vanatome aims to expand its team by recruiting a Mechanical Design Engineer (H/F) for a permanent position at the Saint Vallier site (26).

The company handles design, manufacturing, sales, after-sales service, and maintenance in areas including energy, military nuclear, and civil nuclear (valve manufacturing).

Your responsibilities include creating technical specifications and documentation based on internal/external requirements, designing structural assemblies and components that meet project specifications, and formalizing these designs through detailed documentation (plans, CAD models, weight, etc.).

You will:

• Identify, implement, critique, and validate input data (specifications, pre-studies, interfaces)
• Perform structural assembly studies (primary, secondary structures, metallic or composite) and defense system design (constructive principles, material choices, protections such as insulation, piping)
• Develop, write, modify, and validate detailed design documents (CAD models, mass calculations, drawings, bills of materials, interfaces, tolerance plans), adhering to project quality, cost, and deadline requirements, as well as applicable standards
• Demonstrate that technical choices comply with regulations and standards
• Participate in troubleshooting, managing, and validating series projects non-conformities
• Research cost-effective and manufacturable technical solutions
• Support production (non-conformities, deviations, delivered product issues) and customer repairs in service
• Conduct site visits for analysis, inspection, and consulting

Requirements:

• Higher education in engineering or equivalent, specializing in mechanics
• At least 5 years of experience in an engineering office, understanding its functions and quality rules
• Technical skills in RDM calculations, functional sizing, metallic materials, manufacturing, and inspection processes
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and good command of English
