Description du poste

MINES Paris - PSL, since its establishment in 1783, has trained highly skilled engineers capable of solving complex problems across diverse fields.

As the leading engineering school in France by contractual research volume, MINES Paris - PSL offers extensive research activities focused on industry. Its research spans energy, materials, applied mathematics, geosciences, and social sciences. The school also develops teaching and research chairs on emerging themes.

Part of the University PSL, located in the heart of Paris, it fosters dialogue across all fields of knowledge, innovation, and creation. Ranked among the top 50 universities worldwide, it trains researchers, artists, engineers, entrepreneurs, and leaders aware of their social, individual, and collective responsibilities.

Host Institution

The École nationale supérieure des Mines de Paris (MINES Paris) is one of France's most prestigious engineering schools and leads in industry-oriented research. It trains generalist engineers through innovative, multidisciplinary education integrating engineering sciences with social sciences and humanities. Its affiliation with the University PSL, ranked in the top 50 globally, enriches the educational experience.

Mines Paris is a public scientific, cultural, and professional establishment (EPSCP), under the supervision of the Ministry of Economy, Finance, and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty.

Main Activities

Your environment:

The CEMEF, based in Sophia Antipolis (06), is a research center of Mines Paris - PSL and a joint research unit of CNRS (UMR 7635). Following a retirement, CEMEF seeks to recruit a thermomechanical testing engineer. The candidate will join the "Metallurgy, Microstructure, and Rheology (MSR)" team, comprising 10 researchers and engineers. The MSR team focuses on microstructural evolution during metal forming processes, combining experimental and numerical skills, resulting in numerous scientific publications. The role involves close collaboration with other research teams and technical staff. The center currently hosts about 60 doctoral students and a dozen post-docs, many of whom will interact with the recruited engineer.

Your challenge and missions:

  • Conduct and develop thermomechanical tests, including standardized and complex tests under industrial-like conditions (often hot).
  • Define technical specifications and design new testing devices.
  • Establish experimental protocols for routine and critical measurements, ensuring machine and measurement validity.
  • Train personnel on machine operation and ensure safety compliance.
  • Manage maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and plan machine use.

Candidate profile

Knowledge and skills required:

Applicants should hold a minimum of a Bac+5 degree and possess:

  • Strong knowledge in materials mechanics, testing standards, and thermal processes, with good understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electromechanics.
  • Ability to conduct mechanical and thermal tests.
  • Proficiency with IT tools, technical specifications, and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is a plus, as well as proficiency in English.

Interpersonal skills:

Excellent communication skills, teamwork ability, analytical and synthesis skills, practical sense, and proactive attitude. Curiosity and creativity in problem-solving are highly valued.

Working at Mines Paris also means:

  • Joining a prestigious, historic institution
  • Contributing to digital transition and carbon neutrality efforts to combat climate change
  • Being part of the University PSL, ranked 41st worldwide by ShanghaiRanking

The application should include the elements specified in the provided link and be sent by April 25, 2025, to:
