CAREL France, the French subsidiary of CAREL Group, seeks an experienced Industrial Software Developer to migrate and modernize controller software. You will design modular architectures for IEC 61131-3, implement ST-based solutions, and enforce robust Git workflows.

Collaborating with refrigeration specialists and engineers, you will build tests, APIs, and HMIs, driving quality and maintainability across platforms in a global organization.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in software development, automation, or embedded systems.
• Proficiency in Structured Text (ST) or an object-oriented language such as C#, Java, C++, or Python.
• Knowledge of IEC 61131-3 languages (FBD and ST) for CAREL controller applications.
• Knowledge of Git and version control best practices.
• Ability to read, refactor, and improve reliability of legacy code.
• Strong commitment to software quality, testing, documentation, architecture, and maintainability.
• Excellent English communication in a technical environment.

Industrial Software Developer

As an experienced software developer, the candidate is able to apply robust software engineering practices in an industrial environment, including modular architecture, object-oriented programming (OOP), Git, testing, documentation, APIs, and legacy code migration.

Key Activities

Requirements

• A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in software development, industrial computing, automation, embedded systems, or software architecture.
• Proficiency in Structured Text (ST) or at least one object-oriented programming language such as C#, Java, C++, Python, or equivalent.
• Good understanding of software design principles, including modularity, abstraction, encapsulation, composition, interfaces, and the single responsibility principle.
• Knowledge of IEC 61131-3 languages, particularly FBD and Structured Text, to work on CAREL controller applications.
• Knowledge of Git and version control best practices.
• Ability to read, understand, refactor, and improve the reliability of legacy code.
• Strong commitment to software quality, including testing, readability, documentation, architecture, and maintainability.
• Ability to work with constrained, industrial, or embedded application systems.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with internal teams, customers, technicians, and partners, understanding requirements, clarifying issues, and explaining technical decisions.
• Good written and spoken English skills in a technical environment, including documentation, supplier communications, reading manuals, tickets, and specifications.
