Job Description:

The Borlaug Institute for South Asia (BISA) is a non-profit international research institute dedicated to food, nutrition, and livelihood security as well as environmental rehabilitation in South Asia, which is home to more than 300 million undernourished people. BISA is a collaborative effort involving CIMMYT and the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR). Please refer to this website for more information: website link.

We are seeking dynamic, innovative, self-motivated, and service-oriented professionals for the position of Technical Assistant.

The position will be based in Project districts: Jabalpur, Chindwara, Dindori, Mandala, Katni, Narshinghpur, Tikamgarh, Newari, and Datia, or any other project district in Madhya Pradesh.

Main responsibilities include:

• Support in executing farmers' participatory and on-station demonstrations/research trials of climate-resilient agricultural practices.
• Monitoring daily field activities (irrigation, fertilizer, herbicide, insecticide, etc.) and collecting data as per supervisor’s instructions.
• Maintaining records of inputs, machinery, and services provided to farmers in standard BISA format.
• Performing other activities as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture with 1-2 years of relevant experience, or 12th pass with over 5 years of practical field experience in agriculture.
• Good knowledge of crop production techniques, including conservation agriculture and modern machinery.
• Proficiency in Hindi and working knowledge of English.
• Competencies: Client Orientation, Critical and Creative Thinking, Problem Solving, Decision Making, Teamwork, and Communication.

The initial contract is for 1 year with renewal based on performance and funding availability. BISA offers an attractive salary and benefits including health insurance.
