Job Description:

The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) seeks to recruit Project Research Support Officer to provide research coordination support for LCSR in preparation for final year reporting, working closely with LCSR Scientists from ILRI, ICARDA and ABC.

ILRI works to improve food and nutritional security and reduce poverty in developing countries through research for efficient, safe and sustainable use of livestock. It is the only one of 15 CGIAR research centres dedicated entirely to animal agriculture research for the developing world. Co-hosted by Kenya and Ethiopia, it has regional or country offices and projects in East, South and Southeast Asia as well as Central, East, Southern and West Africa.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collating of technical outputs from LCSR researchers from different participating centres and populating of forms for reporting into PRMS (Partnership, Capacity Building, Knowledge Products).
  • Support evidence synthesis for documentation of progress towards end of initiative outcomes
  • Support data collection, date entry, data analysis and data management. This includes further analysis of the data retrieved to support project publications.
  • Support in drafting scientific journals and papers. Specifically, draft sections of technical reports, journals and working papers.
  • Coordinate documentation of all LCSR initiative knowledge material.
  • Perform any other related duties as may be required.

Requirements

Academic and professional qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree in either Soil Sciences, Agronomy, Land and Water Management, climate change
  • Minimum of three years relevant research experience post Masters degree
  • MS Office programs, internet explorer, Cloud storage applications, primary and secondary data collection and extraction.
  • Working knowledge of ArcGIS, GENSTAT, R programming language, and Atlas.ti, Kobo toolbox, SPSS.
