AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain, and we're looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. We are expanding our technician teams within the EMEA regions and have openings for Installation Technicians. This is an entry-level position and a unique opportunity to work in some of the most innovative and fast-paced data centers in the world. The Infrastructure Delivery team is responsible for the scaling and physical deployment of new data center infrastructure. As part of that team, you will be primarily tasked with installing cabling and new racks within the data centers. You must be able to perform repetitive tasks and adhere to standard processes and best practices. You will be working in a team environment and must be able to communicate and promote cross-team functionality.

Key Job Responsibilities

  1. Adhere to security and safety best practices in the data center.
  2. Installation and testing of copper and Fiber Optic cabling.
  3. Basic build and troubleshooting of network devices.
  4. Creating/attaching labels and barcodes.
  5. Managing inventory of related materials.
  6. Adhering to defined escalation processes and standard operating procedures.

Physical Requirements:

  1. This position has a physical component and may require working in cramped spaces or elevated locations.
  2. Manual handling and lifting of equipment may be required (weight limits in accordance with regulations).
  3. Regularly work at heights and from ladders.
  4. Work in noisy areas with hotter and colder temperatures than standard office environmental conditions.

Minimum Requirements

  1. 1 year of structured cabling (Copper/Fiber) Installation experience.
  2. Complete understanding of industry cable test procedures and equipment for a variety of different cabling systems (Copper/Fiber test equipment, OTDR, Network analyzer, VFL, etc.).
  3. Ability to work at heights off of a ladder and in confined spaces; lift up to 16Kg with two-person support or equipment.
  4. Several years of data center structured cabling infrastructure experience.
  5. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and priorities.
  6. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook.
  7. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  8. General comprehension of the various components and subcomponents of data center infrastructure.
