Kalray in Montbonnot-Saint-Martin is offering an internship focused on developing an eBPF/XDP offload infrastructure. You will work in a 9-person team on low-level C, Linux kernel, and embedded firmware to offload eBPF/XDP programs to Kalray’s custom processor hardware.

You will help load programs, manage data, and build a runtime environment with exposure to host-device communication, JIT compilation, and verification on a high-performance network card.

Qualifications

• C development and low-level programming are required.
• Experience with Linux and debugging at the software/hardware interface is expected.
• Knowledge of eBPF/XDP would be a plus.

Responsabilités

• Contribute to setting up host–card communication for transferring programs and reporting status.
• Contribute to lifecycle management of eBPF/XDP programs (load, attach, replace, unload).
• Manage eBPF maps with host and embedded program access, considering memory and concurrency.
• Develop JIT compilation for the custom processor translating eBPF bytecode to target ISA.
• Define the subset of eBPF supported by the hardware and verify against Linux verifier.
• Carry out end-to-end tests with XDP programs and measure costs of compilation and execution.
• Analyze results to identify limitations and improvements.
