My client is seeking an HR Director to lead and develop the HR function across its French organisation.
This is a key leadership role within a fast-growing international business, with responsibility for building the people infrastructure required to support continued expansion across France.
The successful candidate will be comfortable operating in a high-growth environment where processes, structures and teams are still evolving. They will bring strong HR fundamentals, but also the judgement and creativity to avoid overly traditional or bureaucratic approaches where a more agile solution is needed.
This is an opportunity to shape the HR function as the business scales, working closely with senior leadership to ensure the organisation has the right people, processes and culture in place to support significant growth.
Key Responsibilities
Build & Develop the HR Function
- Own the development of the HR function across France.

- Ensure HR infrastructure evolves in line with the increasing size and complexity of the organisation.
- Create practical processes that support the business without introducing unnecessary bureaucracy.
Support Business Growth
- Partner closely with senior leadership to support workforce planning and organisational growth.
- Help prepare the organisation for significant increases in headcount.
- Ensure HR processes can support a business scaling towards approximately 500 employees.
- Support the creation of appropriate organisational structures as teams and functions expand.
- Identify people-related risks and opportunities as the business enters its next phase of growth.
Leadership & Business Partnership
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders across the French organisation.
- Provide commercially minded HR guidance that balances employee needs with business objectives.
- Support leaders through organisational change, team development and complex people matters.
- Build strong relationships across operational, technical and corporate functions.
- Ensure HR is viewed as an enabler of the business rather than simply an administrative function.
People Processes & Governance
- Establish and continuously improve core HR processes across the employee lifecycle.
- Ensure appropriate frameworks are in place across onboarding, performance management, employee relations, development and succession.
- Maintain strong governance and consistency while allowing flexibility where the business requires it.
- Partner with relevant stakeholders to ensure compliance with French employment legislation and company standards.
- Support the development of HR reporting, people metrics and management information.
Culture & Employee Experience
- Help shape a positive, high-performance culture as the organisation grows.
- Support leaders in maintaining strong communication, engagement and accountability across teams.
- Develop initiatives that improve the employee experience while supporting commercial priorities.
- Help embed company values and behaviours across a rapidly expanding workforce.
- Encourage a practical, solutions-oriented and forward-thinking approach to HR.
Experience & Background
- Significant HR leadership experience within a fast-growing or rapidly changing organisation.
- Proven experience building or scaling HR functions, processes and organisational structures.
- Experience supporting organisations through substantial headcount growth.
- Exposure to businesses scaling towards approximately 500 employees would be highly relevant.
- Strong knowledge of French employment law and HR practices.
- Experience partnering directly with senior leadership teams.
- Strong process orientation with the ability to introduce structure without becoming overly bureaucratic.
- Commercially minded and comfortable balancing business objectives with people considerations.
- Experience within infrastructure, engineering, technology, industrial or other fast-paced environments would be advantageous.
- Fluent French and strong English communication skills would be highly beneficial within an international organisation.
