About the Role!

Pullman & Mercure Melbourne Albert Park are seeking a passionate, creative, and growth-driven Commis Chef to join our team on a Part-Time basis! Your flexibility in adapting to special requests will contribute to creating memorable dining experiences that will see guests returning time and again.

Reporting to the Executive Chef, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assist with food preparation and production for breakfast, lunch, dinner, room service, banqueting, and buffet service.
  • Contribute to and maintain clean, hygienic, and organized work environments to ensure efficiency within the kitchen and uphold HACCP standards.
  • Perform tasks in a timely manner to ensure high guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain and collaborate on stock rotation/stock control processes to reduce wastage and maintain hygiene and cleanliness standards.
  • Promote and express your passion for the art of culinary through creating consistently high-quality food production.
  • Liaise with the Kitchen teams on special requests or delayed meals/production.
Qualifications

  • A can-do attitude and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Strong desire to achieve high results, driven by success.
  • Creative-minded with a passion and desire to learn.
  • Previous experience working within a fast-paced kitchen or banqueting environment.
  • Excellent technical knowledge with experience in various cooking techniques and styles.
  • Understanding of workplace health and safety principles.
  • Food Safety Certificate is essential.
  • Flexibility to work on a rotating roster, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

In addition, to be successful as a Commis Chef in the Pastry Kitchen, you will have:

  • Excellent pastry-specific technical knowledge and ability.
  • Ability to work with a range of pastry techniques.
  • Strong passion for being creative and artistic with your work.
  • High attention to detail.
