Hospice of Southern Illinois is a not-for-profit, community-based hospice serving Southern Illinois and St. Louis Metro-East communities with end-of-life care since 1981. We are committed to providing compassionate care in a home-like setting, driven by the passion and dedication of our employees and volunteers. We are currently hiring for a Hospice Admission RN position based in our Belleville, IL office.

Summary of the Admission RN Position:

  1. Position Summary: As part of the admission team, the Admission Nurse handles admission compliance and processes, collaborates with physicians and families on assessments, care planning, and implementation.
  2. Pay: $38.80 per hour
  3. Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt, 40 hours/week
  4. Schedule: Monday-Friday with rotating shifts (8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, 10:30 AM - 7:00 PM) and on-call duties including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  5. Location: Belleville Patient Services Office, with travel across counties including St. Clair, Monroe, Washington, and others.
  6. Compliance: Certified by the State of Illinois and compliant with Illinois Equal Pay Act.

Position Requirements:

  • Education: RN from an approved nursing program; Associate Degree or Diploma required, Bachelor’s preferred.
  • Experience: 1 year hospice experience preferred.
  • Qualifications: Valid Illinois nursing license; hospice and palliative care certification and CPR preferred; strong assessment, organizational, and interpersonal skills; knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and hospice regulations; reliable transportation.

Physical & Working Conditions:

Includes repetitive tasks, patient transfers, lifting up to 100 lbs, working in varied environments with possible exposure to odors, fluids, allergens, and communicable diseases. Must handle stress, make decisions under pressure, and work cooperatively with teams.

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct intake, review medical records, and collaborate on eligibility.
  • Provide education on hospice services and principles.
  • Complete assessments, document findings, and communicate with team.
  • Build relationships, participate in quality improvement, and manage documentation timely.
  • Other duties as assigned.
