Are you passionate about superconducting materials and interested in applying your skills to fusion energy? Join our team as an HTS Magnet Engineer and help develop the magnetic technologies of tomorrow for nuclear fusion!
Asa HTS Magnet Engineer, you will work within the Magnets Group (GAIM) at IRFM/STEP (Institute for Research on Magnetic Confinement Fusion / Operations and Control Department). You will join a dynamic team and be involved in the development of high-temperature-critical superconductors as part of national and European projects.
Your main responsibilities:
Research and development on HTS superconducting materials: You will develop the "HTS Superconducting Materials" activity as part of the PEPR Suprafusion, Eurofusion, and BPI projects. You will conduct research on HTS conductors and help supervise doctoral theses on this topic. You will contribute to the design and development of innovative HTS conductors.
Numerical Simulation and Modeling: You will perform numerical simulations to optimize the performance of HTS superconductors. You will analyze the critical properties of materials and model their behavior. You will help improve existing simulation tools.
Prototyping and Experimental Testing: You design and build prototypes of HTS superconducting conductors and magnets. You set up and conduct test campaigns to characterize the materials. You analyze the experimental results and propose technological improvements.
Scientific and Technical Collaboration: You will participate in international technical meetings and present your work in English. You will collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners. You will contribute to the drafting of scientific publications and technical reports. You will monitor technological developments in your area of expertise.
You hold a master’s degree ( Bac+5) in Materials Science, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with at least 5 years of significant experience in the field of superconductors. You have expertise in HTS superconducting materials (REBCO tapes), numerical simulation, and testing techniques for superconducting conductors and magnets. You are self-motivated and meticulous, with a strong passion for R&D and solid scientific skills that will enable you to hit the ground running. With excellent interpersonal skills and professional-level English, you enjoy working in an international team and know how to effectively communicate your technical results.
By joining IRFM, you will contribute directly to strategic advances in the field of fusion energy. You will be part of a stimulating, international, and multidisciplinary environment at the heart of technological innovation.
