Job summary

Community Progress Council, Inc. seeks Assistant Teachers to support Head Start classrooms across York County. You will partner with Lead Teachers to create engaging, play-based learning and foster a safe, nurturing environment where children thrive.

Join a collaborative team including Family Coaches, Behavior Support Specialists, and Health & Nutrition professionals to promote child development, family engagement, and community impact.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus at least 1 year in a preschool or elementary setting.
• CDA credential within two years with CPC support.
• Strong English reading and speaking; bilingual skills are a plus.
• Build positive relationships with children, families and diverse communities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support Head Start classrooms alongside Lead Teachers.
• Help create engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences with families.
• Assist with lesson planning, documentation, health checks and observations.
• Promote a safe, inclusive classroom culture and maintain confidentiality.
• Engage families through conferences, home visits, and individualized planning.
