Role Overview

To support our growth, we are creating a new position: Head of our Propulsion Department. You will lead passionate engineers in pioneering hybrid propulsion systems and contribute to ambitious, first-of-their-kind programs.

Reporting directly to the CTO / Chief Engineer, you will collaborate with senior leadership and oversee innovation on our flagship launchers: Baguette One and OB-1, scheduled to fly in 2026 and 2027. Your work will be crucial in shaping their journey to space.

Primary Objectives:

• Deliver innovative, efficient, and simple hybrid engines for Baguette One and OB-1, ensuring system maturity and readiness for flight tests.
• Develop and execute a strategy to deepen hybrid propulsion expertise, accelerate mastery, and enhance your team's skills using in-house test benches and advanced simulations.

Team Management

• Leading, mentoring, and energizing your team, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and rigorous testing.
• Setting goals, prioritizing work, and ensuring timely, within-budget results.
• Promoting professional development to cultivate future propulsion experts.

Technical Oversight

• Overseeing design, development, and testing of hybrid propulsion systems and engines.
• Ensuring system integration focusing on performance, reliability, and simplicity.
• Collaborating with departments like Avionics, Structures, Testing, and AIT for seamless execution.
• Driving innovation through exploring new materials, manufacturing techniques, and processes.

Strategic Contribution

• Partnering with leadership to define the technical roadmap aligned with company goals.
• Representing the propulsion team in high-level meetings and providing technical guidance.
• Building partnerships with suppliers, research organizations, and industry leaders.

Project & Budget Management

• Managing timelines, budgets, and resources, balancing speed and quality.
• Identifying risks and ensuring safety compliance.
• Reporting progress and rallying the team through challenges.

Who We Seek:

Qualifications:

• Master’s or PhD in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, focusing on propulsion.
• 10+ years in propulsion design, development, and testing within aerospace or space sectors.
• Proven leadership managing technical teams and complex projects.

Experience in fast-paced environments and a strong network in aerospace propulsion is a plus.
