Job summary

SkillSource is seeking a Head of Nuclear for a confidential client developing nuclear-powered commercial vessels. The role leads the nuclear engineering program, shaping reactor strategy and building a specialist team to advance the program.

You will collaborate with leadership to convert open technical questions into documented decisions, milestones, and well-scoped work, while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance in a challenging early-stage environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in nuclear engineering or equivalent technical experience.
• Proven track record leading nuclear engineering or reactor development programs.
• Experience with safety culture, disciplined documentation, and technical reviews.

Responsibilities

• Lead reactor technology evaluation and development strategy.
• Define program requirements and coordinate interfaces with vessel disciplines.
• Establish rigorous safety documentation, design reviews, and risk ownership.
• Develop regulatory engagement plans with nuclear and maritime specialists.
• Build and lead a focused engineering team and manage external experts.
• Develop milestones, budgets, and resource plans; track dependencies.
• Represent the company in technical diligence and partner discussions.
