About the job

Ready to push the limits of what’s possible? Join the Global Procurement Center of Excellence to play a vital part in the transformation of Procurement.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Supply Chain Decarbonization Specialist to join our Sustainability Center of Excellence. The specialist will play a key role in mapping, understanding and reducing carbon emissions across our supply chain in partnership with our category leaders and suppliers.

This role requires basic expertise in carbon accounting and life-cycle analysis, chemicals and decarbonization strategies. A science degree is helpful.

You will work closely with internal category teams and our HSE function to help external suppliers understand their emissions contribution to our business, identify decarbonization levers, assess their cost implications, and drive fact-based strategies to achieve our decarbonization goals.

We are an innovative global healthcare company with one purpose: to chase the miracles of science to improve people’s lives. We’re also a company where you can flourish and grow your career, with countless opportunities to explore, make connections with people, and stretch the limits of what you thought was possible. Ready to get started?

Main responsibilities:

  • Carbon Footprint Mapping: Develop tools and methodologies to map carbon emissions across supplier tiers, ensuring accurate data collection and analysis. Identify high-impact areas in the supply chain, such as energy-intensive processes and transportation.
  • Decarbonization Strategy Development: Assess and quantify decarbonization levers (e.g., renewable energy, efficiency improvements), develop aligned strategies with Sanofi goals, and analyze cost implications through "should-cost" models.
  • Supplier Engagement: Collaborate with tier-1 suppliers to review emissions data, co-develop decarbonization plans, and monitor commitment to sustainability milestones, including SBTi targets.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Maintain databases to track emissions and decarbonization progress. Develop KPIs and prepare regular reports for senior management on initiative performance and cost-benefit outcomes.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Industry Trends: Advise teams on environmental regulations, carbon accounting standards, and emerging trends, integrating best practices into supply chain decarbonization efforts.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal teams (R&D, EHS, logistics) and external stakeholders (industry associations, consultancies, technology providers) to ensure cohesive and innovative decarbonization efforts.
About you

Experience:

  • Over 5 years in supply chain management, procurement, or sustainability with expertise in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), decarbonization, and carbon footprint management.
  • Proven success in supplier engagement and managing cross-tier supplier networks for carbon reduction initiatives.
  • Proficient in carbon accounting, decarbonization technologies, and sustainability certifications (e.g., GHG Protocol, SBTi, ISO standards).

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Supply Chain Management, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (science degrees also considered); Master’s degree preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting and communicating carbon emissions data.
  • Expertise in carbon footprint modelling tools and supply chain software.
  • Proficient in negotiation, communication, and project management for multi-stakeholder initiatives.
  • Experience in cost modelling and scenario analysis for sustainability projects.
  • Self-driven, results-oriented, and adept at influencing stakeholders to achieve decarbonization goals.

Languages:

  • Fluent in English.
