  • Seven years for Hazardous Materials Storage Inspector 11, with one year at the 10 level.

Overview

This position is responsible for the implementation of the Storage Tank Division within Washtenaw and Wayne Counties. It acts as liaison between the bureau and law enforcement, the regulated community, local inspectors and representatives from the industry. It performs program tasks that include inspection, investigation, and enforcement activities with underground storage tank and aboveground storage tank programs as defined in Part 211 of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act as amended and Public Act 207 of 1941, the Michigan Fire Prevention Code and the regulations promulgated thereunder.

Responsibilities
  • Implement the Storage Tank Division program within Washtenaw and Wayne Counties.
  • Serve as liaison between the bureau, law enforcement, the regulated community, local inspectors and industry representatives.
  • Perform program tasks including inspection, investigation and enforcement activities for underground storage tank (UST) and aboveground storage tank (AST) programs as defined by applicable acts and codes.
Qualifications
  • Education: Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
  • Experience:
  • Hazardous Materials Storage Inspector 9 – Five years of experience involving the handling, storage, quality control, environmental testing, or regulation of regulated substances.
  • Hazardous Materials Storage Inspector 10 – Six years of experience involving the handling, storage, quality control, environmental testing, or regulation of regulated substances, including one year equivalent to a Hazardous Materials Storage Inspector 9.
  • Hazardous Materials Storage Inspector 11 – Seven years of experience involving the handling, storage, quality control, environmental testing, or regulation of regulated substances, including one year equivalent to a Hazardous Materials Storage Inspector E10.
