Job Description:

A vacancy for a Certification Qualification Engineer position on H160 Program has arisen within Airbus Helicopters.

You will join the Airworthiness Department of Airbus Helicopters in Marignane and become part of the Chief Airworthiness Engineer's (CAE) Team for H160 Program to support the safety of our products by managing the Certification, Qualification and initial Airworthiness activities for your program. It includes new helicopter type certification, changes to existing helicopter type certificates and flight clearances.

The Certification/Qualification Engineer is responsible to ensure that the design changes on the Helicopter comply with the applicable airworthiness requirements and ensure their in-service safety. You will be managing the Certification and Qualification activities to meet the development and deliveries milestones (new and retrofit) of the program.

Each Project involves various contributors (Chief Engineering, designers, internal and external specialists, customer support, prototype shop, Final Assembly Line, ...).

As Certification Qualification Engineer, you will be the liaison to the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and other foreign civil or military aviation authorities to validate the certification basis as well as the certification strategy and means of compliance (lab/ground/flight testing, Safety analysis...), in addition to authority involvement (document acceptance, test witnessing, in-house reviews...).

This results in a challenging transverse position, including internal negotiation but also with civil and military Aviation Authorities worldwide, with great responsibilities, and a good overview on our products, on our systems and on our organization.

This position will require a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities.

Task & accountabilities :

Your mission is to manage certification and qualification activities for the H160 Helicopters, in an international environment.

To achieve this you will have to:

• Identify/define the applicable Certification / Qualification basis for future H160 evolutions
• Define the Certification/qualification Program, elaborate and harmonize (internally / externally) the certification & qualification strategy, which includes the identification of applicable regulatory requirements and the associated Means of Compliance
• Coordinate the creation and delivery of the compliance demonstrations documents in accordance with the Certification Program.
• Validate those demonstrations of compliance and harmonize them with Authorities.
• Produce the certification / qualification synthesis documents and harmonize them with authorities.
• Approve design changes under DOA privileges.
• Obtain the permit to fly or contribute to the obtainment in case of cooperation projects.
• Influence and contribute to the harmonization of the future Certifications (e.g. in the frame of offers, ..)


In parallel, the position could offer, in the future, the opportunity to:

• Be a key player for the harmonization of the certification processes, for continuous improvement and DOA on H160.
• Promote our Roles & Responsibilities and associated processes within Airbus Helicopters and in front of our Authorities.
• Be the point of contact of all airworthiness/qualification topics relative to H160 in front of internal customers/suppliers (Design, Project, Configuration, Support & Services ...) as well as external ones (authorities, partners).
• Become authorized signatory and responsible within the design assurance system including the whole process of certification and qualification.
• Manage a transversal team for a given certification/qualification project.


Required skills :

You need to have the following skills and experience:

· Educated to a 5 years’ degree level (or equivalent) in Engineering or a related discipline.
· At least 1 year of overall experience in design office.

  • Experience in a regulatory environment is a plus
