Job summary

Thunes is expanding its engineering team in Paris. We are seeking a Senior Golang Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable payments software using Golang, microservices, and cloud infrastructure.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to code reviews, and help advance our Direct Global Network capabilities with emphasis on performance, security, and reliability in a fast-paced Agile environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience (Golang).
• Experience with payments, financial services, fintech is a plus.
• Proficiency with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS).
• Hands-on experience with microservices, DevOps, and CI/CD.
• Strong software design, performance optimization, and security practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and deploy high-performance, secure Golang services.
• Work on a new Golang-based version of the platform.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Security, Infra, and Data teams.
• Conduct code reviews to ensure quality and best practices.
• Optimize performance, scalability, and address technical debt.

Context of the role

The Golang Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software solutions using Golang ecosystems. Success in this role means delivering efficient, scalable, and maintainable code while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. Reporting to the Lead Developer or Software Development Manager, the Senior Developer contributes to the technical direction of projects and ensures adherence to best coding practices. This role is critical in enhancing the company’s technology capabilities and supporting business objectives through robust software development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, test, and deploy applications, ensuring high performance and security.
• Work on a new version of the platform in Golang
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Security and Infrastructure team and Data Team to implement technical solutions.
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure best practices and code quality.
• Optimize application performance and scalability, addressing technical debt where necessary.
• Participate in Agile development processes, contributing to sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software issues, ensuring system stability and reliability.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and propose improvements to existing solutions.

Key Stakeholders:

• Reports to: Lead Developer or Software Development Manager
• Works with: Product Owners
• External interactions: May collaborate with the support team to help them to respond to the client

• Code quality and adherence to best practices

Knowledge Required:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in software development (Golang)
• Experience in Payments, Financial Services, Banking, or FinTech is a plus.
• Proficiency in cloud platforms (Azure or AWS).
• Hands-on experience with microservices architecture, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of software design principles, performance optimization, and security best practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Passion for continuous learning and staying updated with industry trends.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, Agile environment.
