Job summary

Alta Ares is a Paris-based deeptech startup delivering real-time AI for defense operations. The company seeks a seasoned Export Control & Regulatory Compliance lead to shape and manage the framework across France and the EU, classify products, and drive licenses with efficiency and rigor.

You will monitor evolving regulations, coordinate with external advisors for ITAR/EAR when relevant, and support international deployments while ensuring lawful, risk-aware business execution across multiple

Qualifications

5-10 years of experience in export control, trade compliance, or regulatory affairs.
Background in defense, aerospace, or dual-use industries.
Strong knowledge of French export control framework and EU Dual-Use Regulation.
Experience managing export licenses and regulatory interactions.

Responsibilities

Build and manage Alta Ares’ export control framework (France + EU).
Classify products under military and dual-use regimes.
Lead export license applications and regulatory processes.
Ensure compliance with French regulations (DGA, SBDU) and EU Dual-Use Regulation.
Monitor regulatory developments impacting defense, AI, and autonomous systems.
Coordinate with external advisors for non-EU frameworks.
Support deals with compliant terms early in the sales cycle.
Interact with French authorities and participate in defense programs.
