Overview

The company is a recognized leader in heavy civil construction across the Southeastern United States. With decades of experience in large-scale site development, mass grading, and utility work, they've built their reputation on performance, integrity, and innovation.

The company is seeking a General Superintendent to join their earthwork operations. This role will take over from a retiring long-time leader and will be instrumental in shaping the future of their earthwork operations. Reporting directly to the VP of Operations, this executive will lead mass grading operations across multiple high-volume job sites, particularly in support of large-scale developments such as data centers. This role requires strategic planning, boots-on-the-ground leadership, and deep technical expertise in high-production earthmoving.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage multiple mass grading operations across large-scale site development projects.
  • Supervise and mentor 1015 crew-level grading foremen across various job sites.
  • Develop, implement, and optimize mass-haul plans.
  • Train field teams on best practices in earthmoving methods and production efficiency.
  • Manage and coordinate operations involving 200+ craft workers and a fleet of 200+ heavy equipment assets.
  • Interface with project teams and executive leadership to align grading operations with project milestones and budgets.
  • Collaborate with equipment maintenance teams to ensure optimal fleet performance.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in heavy civil construction with a focus on mass grading and site development.
  • Proven leadership in large earthmoving operations with multi-million cubic yard volumes.
  • Strong expertise in rock excavation, including cuts and fills comprised of shot rock.
  • Experience with grading for data center site development is highly .
  • Skilled in creating and executing mass haul plans and managing high-production grading.
  • Working knowledge of GPS machine control systems.
  • Strong understanding of heavy equipment operations and maintenance (dozers, scrapers, excavators, ADTs, rigid-frame trucks).
  • Experience managing large, diverse teams in a multi-site environment.
  • Spanish/English bilingual skills or basic working Spanish proficiency is a strong plus.
  • Willingness to travel regionally across the Southeast U.S.
