General Labor (Surveyor Helper)

The Surveyor/Civil Technologist helper will assist in designs, develop and layout customer requirements for performance, quality and delivery while ensuring Zenith engineering standards for safety and manufacturability is met. The Surveyor/Civil Technologist collaborates with others to solve customer concerns and internal issues as they arise.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Set up and operate total station and GPS instruments for road/construction layout.
2. Organize records, measurements and other survey information.
3. Collect, organize and record geographic information.
4. Identify and recommend improvements to designs, and take appropriate actions to implement.
5. Collaborate with other departments for quality, customer service, safety and cost.
6. Research new solutions, components and methods, recommending and implementing where appropriate.
7. Meet with customers to develop solutions and provide technical support where needed.
8. Conduct all activities and execute all duties with enthusiasm and a positive, results-focused attitude.
9. Support company initiatives and policies enthusiastically.
10. May have opportunity to travel to meet with customers on occasion.
11. Assisting in staking location and elevations for current construction projects.
12. Regular physical use of a 4 LB hammer.
13. Full time seasonal position.
14. Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

1. AutoCAD experience an asset.
2. Road construction experience an asset.

Skills and Attributes Required:

1. CET experience preferred.
2. Motivated, self-starter, capable multi-tasker with demonstrated ability to adhere to tight schedules with minimal supervision.
3. Demonstrated problem solving skills.
4. Dedicated to becoming increasingly knowledgeable on technical aspects of components, products and their applications.
5. Developed communication skills, including verbal, written and presentation.
6. Ability to quickly understand customer requirements, formulate potential solutions, evaluate and decide on the most effective solution.
7. Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other common applications.
