A leading energy company in Courbevoie is seeking a Shift Officer to manage gas delivery operations. Responsibilities include conducting physical operations, participating in trading activities, and ensuring compliance with gas market rules. Ideal candidates will have a Master's degree, fluency in French and English, and experience in energy trading. This role requires the ability to work independently under stress during shift hours.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of solid experience for junior candidates; more than 5 years for confirmed professionals.
• Fluent in French and English (oral and written).
• Experience with physical operating rules on gas markets.

About US :

The Short-Term Gas Business Platform manages the delivery of gas and asset optimization on the European network. We are responsible within S&EM for scheduling, dispatching, and balancing ENGIE and affiliates' gas portfolios round the clock, seven days a week.

Role :

In your team, your main tasks will be the following :

• Conduct physical operations (balancing, nominations, control & follow-up of matching reports)
• Participate in short-term trading activities and asset optimization (shift trading)
• Work in shift 3 (morning, evening, and night)
• Acquire and develop in-depth knowledge of gas market operating rules
• Implement and update internal processes to support new businesses and adapt to market rule changes
• Lead initiatives or projects on operational, digital, and commercial activities

Hard skills :

• Knowledge of European gas business (contracts, balancing, markets)

Good to have :

• Understanding of trading activities
• Programming skills (preferably Python), Dataiku, and data analysis skills

Soft skills :

• Team player with good social skills, quick judgment, and the ability to operate under stress
• Rigorous and reliable
• Ability to investigate and understand complex setups
• Develop a thorough knowledge of relevant gas grid contracts and regulatory regimes
• Experience with physical operating rules on gas markets
• Strong analysis skills for quick and effective decision-making during operational incidents
• Resilient to stress
• Ability to work independently during nights, weekends, and holidays

Education and professional background :

• Engineering School or University Master’s degree in sciences, economics, or related fields
• First experience in an international energy trading company (Front-office, Operations, Middle-office, Back-office, IT)
• 3-5 years of solid experience for junior candidates; more than 5 years for confirmed professionals

Languages :

• Fluent in French and English (oral and written)
