Be responsible for the balancing of game systems, their documents, and tools related to all game loop and progression systems (sources, sinks, tasks, objectives, rewards, and monetization).

Key responsibilities

  1. Design the balancing of all game loop and progression systems (sources, sinks, quests, events, tasks, objectives, rewards, and monetization) according to the Creative Director and Live Operations Directors' vision, and implement it with configuration parameters.
  2. Collaborate directly with the Live Ops Director on detailed balancing and implementation of monetization parameters.
  3. Create and maintain documentation for all game loop and progression systems balancing, as well as designer tools (Excel tables, simulators, etc.).
  4. Provide data-driven simulations and analysis of game loop balancing scenarios to determine optimal balancing parameters and react quickly to player data during live operations.
  5. Redefine system configuration pipelines and tools needed by designers to configure and balance the game, coordinating with the tech team to improve these pipelines as necessary (e.g., data input pipelines and validation).
  6. Revamp existing tools for game configuration and balancing (e.g., designer Excel sheets for tracking and parameter calculations) to enhance their effectiveness.
  7. Participate in identifying solutions to fix bugs and optimize systems, including necessary reworks to achieve desired quality.

Qualifications

  • Passionate about playing and creating games, notably RPGs or simulation/strategy games.
  • In-depth knowledge of the gaming industry, especially top RPG games in the F2P and GaaS genres.
  • Understanding of mobile player behaviors and current business model trends.
  • Strong understanding of live game development phases and evolution.
  • Experience shipping at least one game as an economic designer.
  • Extensive experience working on F2P RPG games with complex game loops, with MMORPG experience being a plus.
  • Specialized education in economic game design or at least 3 years of relevant experience balancing game loop systems.
  • Proficiency in numeric design and data manipulation.
  • Creative, flexible, receptive to feedback, a team player.
  • Analytical mindset capable of translating data into actionable design solutions.
  • Meticulous, organized, with attention to detail.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine is a plus.
  • Knowledge of mobile platform development is a plus.
