Two fully funded PhD positions are available at the Clément Ader Institute (ICA), IMT Mines Albi, France, focusing on additive manufacturing of ceramics for space applications and digital twin technologies. These positions are part of collaborative projects involving leading research institutes and agencies, including CNES (French Space Agency), IRAP, TBI, and IRCER.
Position 1: Indirect Additive Manufacturing of a Lunar Regolith Simulant: Relationships Between Material, Process, and Properties
– Location: ICA (Clément Ader Institute), IMT Mines Albi, Albi, France
– Research Areas: 3D printing, lunar regolith, bio-based polymers, thermal processing, ceramic sintering
– Collaboration: CNES, IRAP, TBI (BIOFACED Project, 2025–2028)
– Duration: 3 years
Position 2: Towards a Digital Twin of the Indirect Additive Manufacturing Process for Ceramics (FAI-CERATWIN)
– Location: ICA (IMT Mines Albi) with research stays at IRCER (Limoges), France
– Research Areas: Digital twin technology, FFF additive manufacturing, multiphysics modeling, thermal and geometric instrumentation, AI integration
– Project: RéCLasSIF – Future Industry & Sustainable Manufacturing
– Duration: 3 years
Candidate Requirements For Both Positions
– Master’s degree (M2) in Materials Science, Mechanics, or a closely related field
– Demonstrated interest in experimental and/or numerical research, particularly in additive manufacturing
– Experience or knowledge in FFF, ceramics, or simulation is advantageous
