This position is within the Canonical team, a fast-growing international software company.

Summary of the opportunity: Canonical seeks a remote marketing communications specialist in the European Union with a degree in marketing, business, or humanities. The candidate should be passionate about technology marketing, with strong communication skills and social media proficiency. Responsibilities include developing and publishing content, engaging audiences, and supporting Canonical's social media growth. We offer a learning budget, annual reviews, recognition rewards, and travel opportunities.

We’re looking for an energetic and creative individual to join our communications team. The ideal candidate may not have extensive experience but is driven to learn, improve, and create campaign concepts that make our brand stand out on social media. This entry-level role offers the opportunity to build a career with a community-focused brand involved in modern technology.

Our social media channels connect the people who make our products with those who use them, reaching millions of audiences worldwide. Our marketing team creates conversations around open source, K8s, product launches, and more, engaging developers, tech enthusiasts, security engineers, and others.

The ideal candidate is passionate about technology and marketing, eager to gain campaign ownership experience, and enjoys learning, problem-solving, and automation. Success requires being driven, organized, and attentive to detail.

This role reports to the Director of Communications within the communications team.

Location: This role will be based remotely in the EMEA region.

What your day will look like:

  1. Develop, schedule, and publish content across social media platforms.
  2. Share updates and report on social media metrics and campaign results.
  3. Support audience growth and engagement.
  4. Create compelling copy and assets aligned with brand personality.
  5. Execute A/B and multivariate growth tests.
  6. Engage with communities and moderate platforms.
  7. Create awareness for campaigns, product launches, webinars, and industry news.
  8. Package Canonical’s offerings and educational content creatively.

What we are looking for:

  • Understanding of social media and communication best practices.
  • Experience with social media management tools like Sprout Social; knowledge of analytics tools like Google Analytics is a plus.
  • Proficiency in at least four platforms (LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit).
  • Analytical mindset with content performance awareness.
  • Knowledge of educational content funnels and video marketing.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with project management tools like Jira is advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.
