Job summary

Checkout.com is seeking a talented and dynamic Legal Counsel with a strong French employment law background to join our Employment Legal team in Paris. You will advise on the full spectrum of French employment matters and support global initiatives.

You will collaborate with the People Team and stakeholders across France and internationally, handling works council consultations, disciplinaries, restructurings, and risk management while exploring scalable processes and AI-enabled compliance.

Qualifications

• French-qualified lawyer (Avocat admitted to the French Bar or Master 2 in French Employment Law).
• 5+ years experience specializing in French employment law, in law firm or in-house.
• Fluency in French and English (written and spoken) for cross-border communication.
• Commutable distance from Paris office with hybrid work (3 days/week in office).

Responsibilities

• Advise on the full spectrum of French employment law across the business and global initiatives.
• Collaborate with People Team and stakeholders in France and internationally on strategy and risk.
• Handle Labour Code compliance, works council consultations, and employee relations.
• Provide guidance on individual/collective dismissals, restructurings, settlements, and investigations.
• Monitor evolving EMEA regulations and support scalable processes including AI tools.
