Job summary

Meitu Inc. is seeking experienced French linguists to join its freelance localization network. You will translate, review, and refine AI-translated content to ensure natural phrasing, cultural relevance, and accurate UI copy for the French market.

This is remote, project-based work with assignments offered based on needs. Responsibilities include proofreading app strings, reviewing marketing content, and maintaining terminology consistency by following style guides.

Job description

We are looking for experienced French linguists to join Meitu’s freelance localization network. You will support the translation, review, and refinement of AI-translated and localized content — helping ensure our products feel natural, culturally appropriate, and well adapted to users in the French market.

This is a remote, project-based freelance opportunity, with assignments offered based on project needs and availability.

Key Responsibilities

• Proofread and refine AI-translated strings across the app, including buttons, dialogs, notifications, settings, banners, and toasts, to ensure accuracy, fluency, consistency, and an appropriate tone of voice.
• Review localized product and UI copy for contextual accuracy, naturalness, terminology consistency, cultural appropriateness, and other language-quality issues.
• Review in-app copy to ensure it aligns with local language conventions, user preferences, and cultural norms. Identify content that feels unnatural, culturally insensitive, or inappropriate for the target market.
• Translate, review, and localize marketing content, including promotional materials, App Store listings, push notifications, in-app campaigns, and social media content.
• Follow project-specific terminology, style guides, and localization requirements to maintain consistent, high-quality output.

Requirements

• Excellent command of French with strong grammar, idiomatic expression, writing ability, and understanding of local cultural nuances.
• Strong English comprehension and professional experience translating or reviewing content from English into French.
• Experience in translation, proofreading, editing, localization, or linguistic review.
• Experience in app, software, website, UI, marketing, or other digital-content localization is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify translation errors, terminology inconsistencies, unnatural wording, formatting issues, and cultural mismatches.
• Familiarity with CAT tools and AI-assisted translation or MTPE workflows is preferred.
• Strong copywriting and transcreation skills are a plus, particularly for marketing and user-facing content.

This is a freelance, project-based collaboration, with workload varying depending on project needs. There is no guaranteed minimum volume of work.

Assignments will be offered based on business needs, project requirements, and your availability.

Selection Process

Candidates whose background is a good fit will be invited to complete a short practical localization test. Those who pass the test will be eligible to join our freelance linguist pool and receive future project-based assignments.

No interview is required for this freelance opportunity.
