Job summary

BeReal is seeking a Data Engineer to join Voodoo's BeReal scaling effort in Paris. You will build and maintain robust data pipelines, ensuring scalable and secure data architectures to support hundreds of millions of users.

You will collaborate with backend, data science, and product teams in a fast, agile environment, owning projects from design to production, and applying best-practice coding and data engineering standards across the stack.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience as a Data Engineer or similar role.
• Proven track record building and optimizing data pipelines at scale.
• Strong focus on scalability, reliability, and security.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work with unstructured datasets.
• Curiosity about business needs and ability to translate into data solutions.
• Excellent communication skills; collaborative mindset.
• Understanding of ML concepts is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Construct and manage robust data pipelines to align with evolving business needs; ensure optimal architecture support.
• Contribute to codebase, push changes to production, promote best coding practices and data engineering standards.
• Take ownership of projects from discussions to release, including estimation, architecture design, and technology benchmarking.
• Work in a very agile environment with fast decision processes.
• Collaborate with backend, data science, mobile apps, and product/marketing teams.

Role

We've built BeReal with a tiny technology team of world-class engineers and we intend to keep this mindset as we scale it to hundreds of millions of users. To achieve this, we ship new features faster than any other scaled social network while upgrading our infrastructure. We work in small teams of generalists and give each engineer high autonomy to make product related decisions.

• Construct and manage robust data pipelines to align with ever-evolving business needs, ensuring optimal architecture support.

• Contribute to the codebase, push and maintain your changes in production, and be an evangelist of good coding and data engineering practices

• Take ownership of projects from initial discussions to release, including feature estimation & scoping, architecture design, benchmarking of new technologies, product feedback…

• Work in a very agile environment with a fast decision process

• Collaborate directly with people working on back-end development, data science, mobile games, broad audience mobile apps, product & marketing

Profile

• Extensive experience as a Data Engineer or another similar role.

• A proven track record of building and optimising data pipelines for massive amounts of data (at scale).

• Strong experience in scalability, reliability, and security topics.

• Strong analytical skills and ability to work with unstructured datasets.

• Result-oriented and focused on the value created by your developments

• Curious about business needs and keen to create innovative, agile solutions to help grow the business through data.

• Excellent communication skills

• Understanding of ML concepts is a plus.
