Offer Description

Postdoctoral position on “Investigation of pentameric ligand-gated ion channels by Voltage-Clamp fluorometry”. The signalization and receptor dynamics group of the Institut Pasteur in Paris is seeking highly motivated candidates for a postdoctoral position in electrophysiology to perform structure-function analysis in real time.

The successful candidate will be recruited for 12 months (renewable several times) funded by CNRS.

The position involves voltage-clamp fluorometry to monitor ion channel gating by electrophysiology and protein motions by fluorescence in physiological conditions. The project aims to develop innovative fluorescent labeling techniques, including new dyes or unnatural amino acids, to create conformational sensors. It will also involve molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and molecular modeling such as molecular dynamic simulations.

The work will be conducted in the “Signalization and Receptors Dynamics” team under the supervision of Pierre-Jean Corringer. The team is part of the CNRS unit “Genes, Synapses and Cognition” and the neuroscience department of the Institut Pasteur. The Institut Pasteur of Paris offers a dynamic scientific environment in the heart of Paris. The lab studies the structure and function of pentameric ligand-gated ion channels, focusing on structural bases of gating and regulation by small molecules. Projects combine structural techniques with functional approaches, including biochemistry, crystallography, pharmacology, and electrophysiology, all supported by fully equipped facilities. Applicants should have a degree in biology, biophysics, biochemistry, or pharmacology, with doctoral experience in electrophysiology and molecular dynamic simulations. Prior experience in voltage-clamp fluorometry and fluorescence techniques is advantageous. The candidate should be able to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary environment, especially with structural biologists.
