FR_Chief Accounting Officer South Europe

C&A Europe is a leading European family-owned fashion retailer known for sustainable fashion and value for money offerings. The organization has new leadership and is embarking on a multi-year transformation program where it is investing significantly to drive growth, revitalize the operational backbone of the business and its digital capabilities.
Corporate Finance/Accounting is a high performing and support oriented team that accumulates and reports on financial information about the performance, financial position, and cash flows of the C&A AG Group.

Your Responsibilities At C&A

Responsibility for:
- the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of the financial information of the legal entities that are part of the South Europe market (France, Spain, Portugal and Italy).
- Leading the accounting managers in the 4 countries.
- Overseeing accounting operations in South Europe.
- Providing guidance and support to the accounting teams in the South Europe countries.

Additional Responsibilities:
• Prepare and review financial statements for the legal entities within the CEE market, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements (local GAAP and IFRS).
• Oversee the general ledger maintenance and reconciliation process.
• Coordinate/oversee the monthly, semi-annual, and annual closing processes for consolidation and local statutory purposes.
• Act as the contact person for all questions and projects regarding accounting within the C&A group and the superior European financial department in Brussels.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the accounting team.
• Set performance objectives, conduct regular performance reviews, and identify training needs.
• Clarify tax-related issues in cooperation with the internal and/or external tax department.
• Contribute to auditors, tax accountants, and tax authorities.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to streamline accounting procedures and enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Manage a team of 3 Accounting Managers.

What We Expect Of You

• 10 years of experience, including significant experience as an external financial auditor.
• Team management experience with up to 3 people.
• Significant knowledge of regulatory requirements, audit processes, and taxes.
• A strong international dimension.
• Excellent analytical (numbers/figures) and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
• Fluency in English and French; knowledge of languages such as Spanish and Italian is appreciated.
