Malt is seeking a Senior FP&A / R&D Controller to lead budgeting and forecasting for R&D and IT, ensure IFRS compliance, and partner with Engineering and Product. The role is based in Paris with hybrid working arrangements and a strong emphasis on business partnering across international teams.

You will own capitalisation policies, track R&D intensity, and build advanced financial models using Pigment and other FP&A tools, while supporting decision-making with clear scenario analyses.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in R&D and project controlling.
• Strong IFRS knowledge, IAS 38 familiarity.
• Ability to build complex financial models for forecasting, ROI, and scenarios.
• Fluent in French and English.

Responsabilités

• Lead annual budget and quarterly forecasts for the R&D and IT departments, incl. monthly variance analysis.
• Ensure IFRS-compliant accounting, capex tracking, and month-end closing coordination.
• Audit internal time-tracking, defend R&D tax credits and capitalization audits.
• Partner with Engineering Leads to optimize headcount/freelancing spend and challenge assumptions across technical/product teams.
• Own and build a dedicated Pigment app.

Key responsibilities

• Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the annual budget and quarterly rolling forecasting cycles for the R&D and IT departments, including monthly variance analysis.
• Financial Gatekeeping, Business Partnering & Business Cases: Evaluate, under strict IFRS rules, new R&D phases and IT projects by calculating NPV, IRR, ROI, and Payback Periods to guide Product Committee decisions. Partner with Engineering Leads to optimize headcount/freelancing spend, and track R&D Intensity/Innovation Effectiveness ratios.
• Capex & Capitalization Management: Define and enforce IAS 38 capitalization policies (IFRS guidelines), track hardware/software lifecycles, and coordinate month-end closing with Accounting.
• Audit the internal time-tracking system to ensure accurate Project ID tagging, defending R&D Tax Credits and Capitalization audits and ensure strict IFRS compliance.
• Tool Ownership: Own and build a dedicated Pigment app.

About you

• Experience: Minimum 5 years of progressive experience, specifically focused on R&D and project controlling.
• Accounting Knowledge: Strong IFRS knowledge, practical grasp of IAS 38 (Intangible Assets), and project accounting rules.
• Financial Modeling & Business Partnering: High proficiency in building complex financial models for forecasting, business cases, and scenario analysis (NPV, IRR) , combined with excellent interpersonal skills to challenge assumptions collaboratively across technical and product departments.
• Technical Tools: Advanced Excel, dashboarding solutions, and FP&A software (Pigment is a major plus; ERP knowledge advantageous).
• Languages: Fully fluent in both French and English to operate in an international European environment.
• Adaptability: Comfortable managing multiple priorities and milestone-tracking in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment.
