Job summary

Davis is hiring a Founding Data Engineer to build the data behind our foundation model, trained from scratch to generate buildings as geometric graphs. You will own the data end to end, from raw floorplans and synthetic generation to a canonical representation, curation, large-scale pretraining and the ablations that tell us which data actually moves the model.

Qualifications

• You have built the dataset, not just trained on it.
• Senior and deeply hands-on with 5+ years of experience.
• Data as a first-class problem including curation, filtering and mixtures.
• Strong engineering with Python, clean and typed code, async and concurrency.

Responsibilities

• Turn real floorplans into clean, standardized graphs.
• Explore synthetic data generation strategies.
• Define canonical representation and curate at scale with provenance.
• Assemble training datasets and design mixtures for large-scale pretraining.
• Train models and perform data ablations to inform data selection.
• Build eval harnesses to monitor data and model quality over time.
