Job summary

Parallel is building AI agents to automate hospital administrative tasks, starting with medical coding. This founding AI Engineer role shapes the core AI architecture, defines the ML strategy, and embeds intelligent systems directly into hospital workflows, working closely with the CTO and founding team.

You will design production-ready AI systems, deploy LLM-powered solutions, and own features from prototype through monitoring, in a fast-paced Paris startup environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years working on applied ML/AI in production environments.
• Strong experience with LLMs and NLP, including prompt engineering and/or fine-tuning.
• Proficient in Python or Node.js and ML libraries such as Hugging Face, LangChain, PyTorch.
• Deep sense of ownership and ability to move from prototype to product quickly.
• Action-oriented and autonomous in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Care about solving user problems over shipping features and stay close to product and users.
• Bonus: familiarity with backend services (Node.js/TypeScript) and data infrastructure.
• Bonus: experience with sensitive or regulated data (healthcare).

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy production-ready AI systems — LLM-powered and agent-based — that automate medical coding.
• Own each feature from prototype to monitoring.
• Build and iterate on agent-based workflows tailored to clinical operations.
• Work with hospital IT to build secure, scalable data ingestion pipelines.
• Integrate AI outputs into the apps used by doctors and hospital staff.
• Define the AI roadmap with the CTO and own the full lifecycle of each AI feature.
