Job summary

METEO FRANCE in Toulouse invites a researcher to join the WeatherGenerator project, focusing on evaluating its capabilities for high-resolution weather forecasting over Western Europe and fine-tuning the WeatherGenerator model on Météo-France Arome data. The role blends AI research with operational meteorology in a collaborative, international setting.

The ideal candidate holds a master’s degree in atmospheric sciences or AI, with strong Python and PyTorch skills, and a proven ability to work

Qualifications

• Master's degree in atmospheric sciences, statistics or AI; PhD advantageous
• Strong background in deep learning, transformers and generative models
• Experience with Python, PyTorch; Linux environment
• Experience processing large datasets; international collaboration is a plus

Responsibilities

• Fine-tune the WeatherGenerator foundation model on Météo-France Arome data
• Evaluate performance and benchmark against other forecasting models
• Implement strategies for probabilistic forecasting with WeatherGenerator
• Collaborate with international project partners and contribute to workshops/hackathons
