The Role: BG IRIS is the knowledge leader for European growth sectors. We are the research team of Bryan Garnier, a leading independent, full-service growth investment bank for the European healthcare, technology, energy-transition, and consumer sectors. Clients benefit from our relentless commitment to their long-term success, unparalleled insights into these strategically important sectors and strong relationships with investors - from private equity and venture capital to institutional investors across the US, Europe, and Asia. As a sector-driven investment bank, our advice is rooted in deep industry knowledge with a global perspective, and clients benefit from our full-service platform and product expertise that will accelerate their long-term success.

We are looking for an analyst to cover the software, SaaS, AI and deep tech universe, as part of Bryan Garnier’s leading research team. In this role, you will cover listed companies in the space but equally have an excellent understanding of the entire sector including privately held businesses. The analyst will publish thought-leading research, insights, and White Papers on opportunities and trends, with opinionated conclusions for the financial community. Eventually, you will develop into a known expert in the space, representing the firm in investor meetings, with corporate management teams, at conferences and in the press. You will work alongside an existing team covering software and IT services, fintech, digital media and climate & industrial tech.

As an entrepreneurial and client-focused company, Bryan Garnier retains a highly dynamic culture, requiring a can-do attitude, focused on results and responsibility for outcomes. In turn, you can expect a positive culture, a diverse environment, flat hierarchies, as well as clear career opportunities. Our research team of around 20 analysts is based in Paris and Amsterdam and this role would be based in Paris.

  • Become an opinion and knowledge leader in the field of software, SaaS, AI and deep tech universe – across private and public markets.
  • Draft research reports on industry trends and specific companies, including investment recommendations for publicly listed companies.
  • Respond to inquiries from clients, sales, traders, and others.
  • Produce and maintain financial models (e.g. income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements…)
  • Analyse and manipulate large datasets to discover actionable insights.
  • Other duties as necessary.

Your Background and Ideal Skillset:

  • The ideal candidate has a background in a financial services role covering software or tech, or a background in software or tech development, with a willingness to develop a thought leadership position in a client-facing financial and equity research analyst role.
  • Highly analytical, and with impeccable communication skills, oral and written. You are able to translate complex subjects into financial advice and summarise concisely.
  • Background, or strong interest in: software, SaaS, ERP, CRM, DevOps, deep tech, AI, metaverse, cybersecurity, blockchain.
  • Experience in financial analysis, e.g. investment banking, equity research, advisory, accountancy.
  • Ability to work in a multi-faceted role that requires meticulous attention to detail and minute project management but equally an open-minded personality and a strategic thinker.
  • Fluent English; French is a plus but not a requirement.
