In the Finance department, you will be part of the Product Control service, which assures management, shareholders, and regulators that the global markets portfolio is correctly and consistently valued and accounted for; advises on and quickly accommodates new business; all at a competitive cost. This enables shareholders to gain value from the integrity of our financial information and supports Global Markets’ cost efficiency targets. Product Control is a key control function, part of finance, independent of Front Office, responsible for ensuring the complete and accurate recording of Global Markets activities within HSBC's books and records, in accordance with applicable accounting standards.

The Product Control team is responsible for ensuring that the daily P&L is produced and analyzed accurately on a timely basis and within reporting deadlines. Commentary should be provided for all material attributes of the daily P&L, including inconsistencies between P&L and risk. Quality analysis should support any adjustments to trader P&L and enable effective review by Line Management.
This role has an international dimension, with constant contact with HSBC teams in London, Krakow, or India. Product Control is a key contact point for all market activities, meaning you will regularly collaborate with other Finance services and with other bank divisions like Front Office and Back Office.

What you will do:

• Primary oversight and escalation for the team, specifically around daily P&L production and review of Primary Trading System sourced P&L, P&L commentary, and P&L attribution across teams in Paris, Krakow, and India.
• Proactively drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and controls through procedural and systems changes.
• Collaborate with Valuations to ensure accurate pricing and measurement of assets and liabilities.
• Present the business view of the P&L and Balance Sheet to traders and trading management.
• Oversee the production of information on the trading desk’s funding position, ensuring all team members are properly trained.
• Build relationships with key stakeholders including other Product Control functions, IT, Operations, Front Office, Group Finance, Market Risk Management, and Credit Risk Management.
• As the owner of Accounting Risk, be responsible for Financial Reporting controls, including Balance Sheet Substantiation and FX Sell-off, providing guidance and advice across teams and keeping stakeholders informed of any concerns regarding disclosure and completeness.

In this role you will:

Principal Accountabilities, key activities, and decision-making areas include:

• Driving change in the Product Control area, both strategic and tactical.
• Managing and signing off on month-end balance sheet attestations and commentaries.
• Participating in Business Control Forums, ensuring effective escalation and communication of issues, and maintaining compliance with audit recommendations, FIM, and control environment standards.
