Overview

Field Service Technician

Operating Company: Environmental Solutions Group Heil Environmental

Remote: Monrovia CA

Reports To: Field Services Manager

Department: Field Service

Responsibilities
  • Demonstration/Promotional Responsibilities: Recognized as the company expert in operation and demonstration of Environmental Solutions Group's complete portfolio of Heil, Marathon, 3rd Eye, Bayne, and Curotto products to showcase equipment features and benefits. Works nationwide with RMs, KAMs, Dealers and End-users to demonstrate equipment. Primary responsibilities include supporting the Sales department with the operation, management and maintenance of all equipment. The job focus is to help expose dealers and consumers to the ESG Equipment brands. General travel to key consumer and dealer events throughout the year (dealer clinics, expos or other). The goal in each case is to create positive brand awareness with an eye toward supporting sales.
  • Technical Service Responsibilities: Receive customer inquiries regarding all company products and resolve customer problems, including troubleshooting assistance via telephone and field repair. Repair machines through modems online with PC; send programs to customers and communicate via email. Revise/modify engineering designs in the field including PLC/controller programming and hydraulic/electrical circuits for more efficient operation. Visually inspect products at various production stages to determine quality and reliability. Be willing to work in plant departments to learn new products. Complete periodic reports evaluating data and writing summaries to validate deviations from quality standards; present field start-up information in writing or orally. Verify accounting reports for all Service Department accounts.
  • Travel and Field Work: Drive company and personal vehicles; use airlines for field service visits. Assist customers with installations, training, troubleshooting, etc. Lift and carry parts up to 40 pounds. Travel up to 90% of the time. Willingness and ability to travel as needed (sometimes on short notice) with a valid driver's license and credit card. Attendance at work during regular hours or other schedules as assigned, with possible overtime to meet departmental goals.
  • Other Job Functions: Attend required training sessions, workshops, seminars, and work with Engineering on R&D of new equipment. Perform other duties as assigned and attend trade shows and customer events as required.
Qualifications
  • Job Specifications: Minimum 2-year technical school, college, or equivalent experience. Ability to travel 80-90% of the time. Proficiency in general arithmetic, clear written and verbal communication, understanding complex instructions, hydraulic and electrical principles, blueprints/electrical schematics, data processing applications; technical knowledge of company parts/products.
  • Physical and Cognitive Requirements: Ability to walk/stand ~50%, sit ~50%, lift up to 40 pounds ~10%; repetitive bending; operate computers, meters, tools, and recording devices; ability to hear, read, and visually inspect equipment; depth perception; work in office environment and occasionally in production floors with dust/noise/temperature variation.   • Environment and Travel: Field environment with moderate noise; travel requiring driving and potential flights. Must have valid driver's license and be comfortable with extended periods away from home.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ethics and work standards; clear communication; teamwork; continual improvement and problem resolution; accountability; ability to use MS Word/PowerPoint/Excel; willingness to learn and adapt.
