SPT Labtech continues to grow, and we have an exciting opportunity for a Field Applications Scientist to be based remotely in France, ideally near Paris or Lyon.

Join our global FAS team, serving as the key interface between sales, marketing, and customers, providing expert support for our liquid handling products.

We collaborate closely with customers to deliver personalized, effective solutions for lab challenges.

About the role:

We seek a personable, organized scientist with a strong background in at least one application area relevant to our instruments. You will run remote and on-site demos of our Firefly, Mosquito, and Dragonfly products, disseminate technical knowledge, train users, and gather competitive intelligence. Building strong relationships with internal teams and EU/US customers is essential.

This role involves travel across France and Europe, with occasional trips to the US and UK. The position requires proximity to a travel hub and flexibility to work across time zones. As a remote team member, you will enjoy flexible scheduling to balance work and personal life.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Pre-Sales
  • Organize and conduct product demos, managing logistics and customer expectations
  • Present technical information to customers alongside territory managers
  • Host seminars and workshops for customers
Subject Matter Expertise
  • Maintain operational knowledge of our products
  • Develop expertise in 2-3 application areas
  • Support internal teams with technical knowledge
Training and Support
  • Provide applications training to users
  • Offer remote and on-site support
  • Develop protocols to optimize client operations
Internal Support
  • Contribute to conference strategies and attend events
  • Keep customer contact data current in Salesforce
Marketing
  • Create application notes, webinars, posters, and presentations
  • Collaborate on scientific content for marketing
  • Gather customer feedback
  • Maintain positive customer relationships
  • Mentor junior team members
Candidate Profile:
  • MSc with 4+ years or PhD with 2+ years in biological sciences, automation, or related fields
  • Knowledge of NGS methods and experience with liquid handling systems
  • Experience in genomics, drug discovery, or structural biology workflows
  • Willingness to travel extensively (50-75%) within France and Europe
  • Excellent organizational, troubleshooting, communication, and presentation skills
  • Previous experience in field applications, teaching, or customer service is a plus
  • Leadership and mentorship abilities
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
