Job summary

Prysmian’s R&D Optical Fiber unit in Douvrin, France is seeking a MSc or Engineer with PhD a plus and first industrial experience to advance measurement techniques for multi-core fibers and support next-generation optical fibers and processes.

You will define new measurement strategies, develop analytical tools, model fiber propagation, collaborate with experts, and contribute to the development roadmap while engaging with customers and publications.

Qualifications

• MSc or Engineer Diploma (PhD a plus) with first industrial experience.
• Experience in computer science programming (Comsol, Matlab…).
• Knowledge of statistics and SQL databases.
• Fluent English; strong management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Define, develop and qualify new measurements strategies for new products.
• Develop new analytical tools or use existing ones to support measurements developments.
• Model the propagation characteristics of the fibers and their impacts on performance for their applications.
• Collaborate with other modeling and process experts.
• Define new items to be incorporated into the optical fiber development roadmap.
• Provide technical support to Process Control and Operations teams and to Sales and Quality teams.
• Propose publications in scientific journals or conferences.
• Participate in technology watch activities (publications, patents, products).

Job description

Join the international teams of Prysmian’s R&D Optical Fiber Business Unit. Participate in the design and measurement of new products in the largest European optical fiber plant, located in Douvrin (62), France.

Description

Reporting to the Fiber Product R&D Manager, you will be responsible for developing new measurement techniques, particularly for multi-core and PANDA fibers, and for supporting the development of next-generation optical fibers and manufacturing processes.

Job

In a multicultural and multisite context, you will:

• define, develop and qualify new measurements strategies for new products,
• develop new analytical tools or use existing ones to support measurements developments,
• model the propagation characteristics of the fibers and their impacts on their performance for their specific applications,
• collaborate with other modeling and process experts,
• define new items to be incorporated into the optical fiber development roadmap,
• provide technical support to Process Control and Operations teams for the resolution of specific problems, and to Sales and Quality teams in their discussions with customers and on issues related to standardization,
• propose publications in scientific journals or conferences,
• participate in technology watch activities (publications, patents, products).

Profile

• MSc or Engineer Diploma (PhD is a plus) with a first successful experience in an industrialenvironment.

• Technical knowledge in cross disciplined science based on graduate research and prior work history (publications, research topics).
• Knowledge of statistics and SQL database.
• Fluent English.
