Are you passionate about the automotive industry and eager to contribute to the safety performance of tomorrow’s transport solutions? Join us and take part in shaping the future of passive safety at Volvo Group.

You will be part of the VEHICLE CAB Engineering department, within the teams responsible for developing new Volvo trucks in Lyon. You will work closely with your counterparts at other Volvo Group sites across the globe.

Your Mission

Reporting to the Cabin Features and Analysis Team Manager, your main mission will be to contribute to research and development projects and support the performance delivery of passive safety features. This includes:

Occupant safety

Development and fine-tuning of airbag systems

Product compatibility with other road vehicles and vulnerable road users

Anticipation of future regulatory requirements (e.g. Euro NCAP)

Your Key Responsibilities

Define the passive safety performance targets at vehicle level

Cascade these objectives to relevant systems (Cabin, Chassis, Driveline)

Monitor and communicate risks and performance during product development phases

Define and coordinate the validation and certification plan in collaboration with simulation, testing and homologation teams

Contribute to building the long-term product roadmap for passive safety

About You

Education and Experience:

Master’s degree or equivalent in engineering, with relevant experience in automotive crash or passive safety

Proven experience in product development within the transport or automotive sector

Technical Skills:

Solid understanding of automotive crash regulations and standards (occupant protection, pedestrian safety, vehicle compatibility)

Experience with testing and measurement tools, ideally within the crash domain (regulatory, normative, development tests, airbag calibration…)

Background in restraint systems development (e.g. airbags, seatbelts)

Strong ability to analyze and interpret crash simulation results

Familiarity with fast dynamic numerical simulation tools would be a plus

Language:

Fluent in English, both written and spoken
