Job Description:

This is a CDI (permanent) full-time position reporting to the Head of Oilseeds Research at LFS. The role involves coordinating Sunflower Research Programs across Europe and Russia. Key responsibilities include:

Research Coordination
  • Manage the European and Russian sunflower research budget, reports, and technical updates.
  • Participate in defining the short, medium, and long-term European sunflower breeding strategy in collaboration with European Joint Venture (JV).
  • Define the research portfolio of the breeding programs with development and marketing teams in Europe and Russia.
  • Participate in the Sunflower Crop team and lead Research in Crop and Product review committees.
  • Coordinate relationships between European & Russian JVs, ensuring contractual obligations are met efficiently, in coordination with the LFS Europe Research Head.
  • Coordinate LFS trial services in Europe and Russia for European JV, with the Head of LFS Europe Research.
  • Oversee trait research activities like disease resistance and herbicide tolerance across Europe and Russia.
  • Participate in European JV Scientific, Operational committees, and Research Working Groups.
  • Engage with stakeholders, including competitors, regulators, and public institutions, to deepen business understanding.
Research Operations
  • Visit nurseries and research sites, analyze field results, and synthesize key indicators including agronomic performance, diseases, and quality.
  • Participate in Product Development trials and coordinate the exchange of hybrids and seed between European and Russian JVs, including legal and phytosanitary considerations.
  • Manage the registration and protection of lines and hybrids, updating the Germplasm database in coordination with the Germplasm Officer.
  • Ensure compliance with germplasm rules and FTO requirements.
  • Communicate research needs and results to the Head of Research for LFS Europe.
  • Administer the Sunflower Breeding tool and collaborate with the Native Trait Team and Innolea JV.
  • Represent sunflower research at scientific conferences and inter-professional institutions.
Finance & Administration
  • Coordinate budget, forecast, and MTP inputs.
  • Manage the sunflower research portfolio and technical reports, and prioritize resource allocation among breeding programs.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Education: MSc or PhD, or extensive breeding experience.
  • Experience: Significant in plant breeding, especially sunflower research.
  • Skills: Innovative mindset, results-oriented, good communication, decision-making based on financial and business analysis.
