Chanel is seeking a Sustainability Project Manager to lead initiatives aimed at reducing the environmental impact of its boutiques. The role involves project management, compliance with LEED standards, and collaboration with various stakeholders to implement sustainable practices in store planning.
At a time of significant social and environmental challenges, Chanel is transforming its business to fulfill its sustainable objectives as the house is really committed to this stake with the ambition to be exemplary.
All workstreams are working in parallel to implement actions and scale up of engagement and resources across the House.
From this perspective Chanel is looking for a Sustainability Project Manager who can use his/her expertise to join the Europe Store Planning team under the lead of Sustainability for the 3 Divisions to put the House sustainability ambition and strategy into action.
Within the Europe Store Planning team, the Europe Sustainability Store Planning Project Manager reports to Europe Store Planning Director.
S/he also reports and functionally to Europe CSR Director.
Key responsibilities
The Sustainability Store Planning Project Manager will be the specialist in charge of all matters aiming at reducing the environmental impact of a Chanel Boutique, from planning and construction phases to operations and maintenance.
You undertake day-to-day project management for current ongoing and future sustainability projects in the Store Planning team by:
Working in close collaboration with Store Planners, at every step of the project, to operationalize the achievement of environmental efficiency for store constructions and renovations (e.g.: choice of materials that respect quality and sustainability standards, selection and negotiation with suppliers, recycling of debris and construction waste, dismantlement and reuse of technical equipment)
Leading the coordination between the different stakeholders, internal (CSR, Finance, Legal, Operations, Real Estate, Procurement…) and external (consulting firms, General Constructor, Millworkers), to ensure transparent communication and efficient cooperation; collecting information and analyzing data
Coordinating tasks, ensuring work quality is maintained at required standard for multiple projects contemporarily
Monitoring work progress and timing to be compliant with the schedule and update on working status and issues
Effectively managing the time, scope, cost, quality and performance
You manage the sustainability objectives implementation process in Store Planning by:
Providing input into the ongoing sustainability skills development within the Store Planning team
Ensuring the efficient follow up on the implementation of LEED requirements for each new Boutique opening including feedback, alerts, and recommendations on potential improvement opportunities
Assessing a life cycle analysis of a Boutique, in order to identify areas for improvement, reduce the environmental footprint of our stores and improve their “circularity” in the long term
Working collaboratively within a mutually supportive team environment with a focus on team success
Profile
Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in the implementation of sustainable strategies on construction
Education
Master’s degree in building engineering or architecture, or similar technical background
Ideally, a specialization in sustainable construction
Technical competencies
Track record in green building project management, with a focus on construction phase
Understanding of and experience of achieving compliance with the LEED commercial rating system, specifically LEED for New Construction, LEED for Commercial Interiors and LEED for Operations and Maintenance
Experience with LEED Volume Programmes is desirable
LEED Green Associate status or LEED Accredited Professional status is essential
Analytical and project management skills (aptitude to manage multiple projects); written, verbal, presentation, interpersonal and teamwork.
General Office software skills: Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, etc.
Professional proficiency in English, every additional language is a plus.
