Equipment Technology Engineer (F/M)

Location: Rueil-Malmaison, Lyon, or Nantes – France

CONTEXT:

The mission of our Business Division (BD), Technology and Technical Support (T&TS), is to offer sustainable, low-carbon solutions that are efficient in technology, catalysts, and services across our domains including Biomass & Oil Hydroprocessing, Petrochemicals, Gas and Water Treatment, and CO2 capture. T&TS is responsible for ensuring optimal performance of our clients' units and maintaining our competitive edge in a challenging market. The Technologist role intersects core activities, supporting sales, client performance, and R&D initiatives.

The Responsible Hydroprocessing Product Line manages technologies related to Clean Fuels, Petrochemical Feedstocks, and Specialty Products. The Technology Engineer's responsibilities include:

  • Preparing, clarifying, and defending technical proposals for tenders, designing new units, modifying existing assets, or replacing products with innovative solutions.
  • Providing technical assistance to clients during unit operation.
  • Promoting Axens’ technologies and services through marketing activities.
  • Adapting and developing our offerings within the technologist's domain of expertise, acting as knowledge guardians.

To support our equipment offerings and licensing, we seek an Equipment Technology Engineer to assist sales with performance support and follow-up of installed equipment. The initial focus is on the VGO Hydroprocessing Group, with potential to work across other Product Lines. Collaboration with Sales, Projects, Engineering, and Process Departments is essential. Expertise in mechanical engineering and fluid mechanics is required.

MAIN ACTIVITIES:

  • Promote equipment & internals (e.g., EquiFlow) to customers.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot operational performance.
  • Leverage feedback and modeling tools (CFD, cold mock-ups).
  • Participate in inspection, maintenance, and cleaning procedures.
  • Contribute to sales growth through innovation, studies, and support pitches, working with cross-functional teams.

Travel to Rueil-Malmaison may be necessary depending on location.

KNOWLEDGE AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to design and develop mechanical systems, components, and assemblies.
  • Proficiency in analyzing detailed data, simulations, and ensuring performance, safety, and reliability.
  • Experience in prototype testing, troubleshooting, and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and cost considerations is a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Proven experience in mechanical design, simulation, and analysis, with ability to interpret mechanical drawings.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.

SKILLS:

  • Team-oriented with excellent communication and listening skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
  • Persuasive communication, both written and oral.
  • Willingness to travel for short trips.
