Epicentre is looking for an epidemiologist to join the Department of Field Epidemiology and Training (DEIF). The department's activities include operational research projects and support for MSF operations. The epidemiologist will contribute to the design, planning, implementation, and analysis of observational studies. These may include statistical analyses of surveillance data, population surveys (mortality, nutrition, seroprevalence), and cohort studies.
The epidemiologist will also play a key role in scientific publications and in translating research findings into operational recommendations for MSF interventions.
What You Bring
- Design and implement research studies related to MSF interventions.
- Develop and revise study protocols and SOPs; support field teams.
- Provide operational support in the field, including organizing activities and supporting local recruitment.
- Contribute to data management, quality control, and database oversight.
- Conduct data analysis using statistical models and write reports and publications.
- Collaborate with operational teams to translate research into actionable recommendations.
- Support other epidemiologists as needed.
- Facilitate study-related meetings and advisory committees.
- Lead remote meetings and advisory support.
- Integrate into a multidisciplinary, multinational team.
- Promote research principles involving vulnerable populations.
- Act as a facilitator in Epicentre training sessions for MSF staff.
Qualifications: Education
- Masters degree or higher in epidemiology or biostatistics (required).
- PhD or equivalent is an asset.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of field epidemiology experience and project coordination.
- Experience in epidemiological/statistical analysis or modeling.
- Experience with MSF or similar NGOs is an asset.
Technical and Interpersonal Skills
- Proficiency in tools like Kobo, STATA, QGIS, R.
- Experience working with Ministries of Health and partners.
- Strong report and publication writing skills.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks.
Languages
- Fluency in French and English (minimum C1 level).
Additional Information
- Contract: 12-month fixed-term, full-time.
- Location: Paris, France, with field travel (2 weeks to 2 months).
- Start date: From September 1st.
